Hi, I’m Sandra Randolph, a myofunctional therapist and the founder of Montana Myo. I’m so glad you’re here. This is the very first post on my blog, and I want to introduce myself and share a bit about the work I do. My goal is to help people build healthier habits through better function and awareness of the oral and facial muscles.
What Is Myofunctional Therapy?
Myofunctional therapy focuses on retraining the muscles of the face, mouth, and tongue to work in harmony. These muscles influence breathing, chewing, swallowing, speaking, and sleep quality. When they are out of balance, or when structural issues are present, it can contribute to:
- Mouth breathing
- Tongue thrust or improper swallowing
- Snoring or poor sleep quality
- Sleep-disordered breathing or sleep apnea
- Speech or feeding difficulties
- Tongue-tie or restricted tongue movement
- Open-mouth posture
- Oral habits such as nail biting or thumb sucking
- TMJ pain or jaw tension
- Facial growth and development concerns
Because these muscles play an important role in oral development and tooth alignment, myofunctional therapy is often used to support orthodontic treatment and long-term stability.
Improving oral function also supports better breathing and sleep, which can enhance focus, energy, and overall well-being for both children and adults.
Through guided exercises and individualized care, I help restore healthy patterns and promote optimal function. The goal is not just to correct habits but to support long-term wellness and quality of life.
Why I Started Montana Myo
I started Montana Myo with one clear purpose: to help people breathe better, sleep better, and live better. Over the years, I have seen how oral dysfunction can affect everything from a child’s focus in school to an adult’s energy and confidence.
At Montana Myo, my therapy approach is personalized and collaborative. I work closely with patients and their healthcare teams, including dentists, orthodontists, speech therapists, and sleep specialists, to ensure a whole-body approach to treatment and long-term results.
